It certainly helps the project move quicker and smoother if you’ve removed any furniture and other items from interior spaces that have to be painted.
Most painted surfaces will be touch dry after the first 4 hours depending on conditions such as humidity etc. At this stage, furniture can be placed back in the room. Note that most paints take up to 1-2 weeks to fully cure and after that time any furnishings can then go back up on the wall. It is not recommended to use Blu Tack or reusable picture hangers for at least one month after painting.
Rain can complicate matters for exterior paint jobs, so it’s usually best to aim for the dry season.
However, interior painting can be done all year round.
Most top quality brands of paint warrant their products for 10-15 years depending on Manufacturer and on following the Manufacturer’s application specifications and follow up maintenance of the painted surfaces (ie: building to be washed down at least once a year to remove mould, dust and dirt which can break down the painted surfaces).
Also, timber stains/oils and clear coats don’t last as long as paint will, especially if the surfaces are in full sun. These surfaces will require a light sand and one coat touch up on a regular basis in order to protect the painted surfaces.
